Posted: November 12, 2020

The City of Humboldt held its 2020 Municipal Elections on Monday, November 9, 2020. This year, 3 candidates ran for the Office of Mayor, and 14 candidates ran for office of Council. It was a very diverse list of candidates running for Council with 7 women and 7 men. The total number of ballots cast was 1461.

Michael Behiel, a City Councillor during the last term, won the Office of the Mayor. Larry Jorgenson and Roger Nordick have both been re-elected and will return as Council Members. Mayor Rob Muench will continue to be a member of Council but in the capacity of City Councillor for this next term. The City would like to welcome new Council Members, Kelly Herperger, Roger Korte, and Amanda Klitch.

“This year’s election was exceptional. Not only did we have to work around COVID 19, but we were also hit with a snow storm. It was also exceptional for a good reason as we saw an increase in the total number of candidates nominated for office,” said Mike Ulriksen, Returning Officer for the 2020 Elections.

Congratulations to all and we are looking forward to the next 4 years of your leadership.
