Digital Humboldt

The City of Humboldt often hears that there is no one central place to find upcoming events or fundraisers happening in and around the community. Social media is a great platform to post special events, but not everyone is on social media. Another downfall is visitors to social pages will typically only see most recent posts, so some posts won’t be seen.

Websites are great as well, but the “out of sight, out of mind” phrase comes to mind: if they aren’t thinking of a specific event that they may be interested in, they may not be looking for a website. Events and fundraisers need to “pop-up” in front of the public at large.

Additionally, the City of Humboldt often has important public notices and messaging we need to get out to our stakeholders. Social media and our website along with other means just don’t quite “cut it”. And, in the event of an emergency or sudden interruption of utility services, getting the messaging or warning out to everyone has been challenging.

Hence, “Digital Humboldt”: a place and a platform for you to advertise your upcoming events and fundraisers, free of charge! The City of Humboldt is introducing this pilot project to all event coordinators and organizations looking for assistance with promotions.

What is "Digital Humboldt"?

    FAQ

    Last updated: August 10th, 2023.

Q: Which Sections on the Display will my poster go?

A: Community members and businesses wanting to post about an upcoming event or fundraiser will have their posters posted in the “Free Zone” on the left side of all Displays.

Q: Does it depend on the content of what I'm looking to post?

A: Yes, we have terms and conditions for posting in the “Free Zone” that must be followed. You can find the terms and conditions on our brochures and info sheet. Your poster will be reviewed by the City of Humboldt before being posted.

Q: How can I send events to go on the scrolling Upcoming Events Calendar on the displays?

A: On the City of Humboldt website “events calendar” there is a button where you can add an event. Click HERE to go to that page.

Q: It says that the poster will be displayed for 2 weeks prior to the event. Should I send my poster two weeks ahead of the event, or months in advance?

A: We can schedule events to post, so you can send your poster earlier than the two weeks before your event to ensure it gets posted on time.
