Cemetery Services
The City of Humboldt maintains two cemeteries within the City’s boundaries. Humboldt Public Cemetery is located on Highway #20 North and St. Augustine Cemetery is located on Highway #5 East. Traditional burial plots, cremation burial plots, and a veteran’s section are available.
Within St. Augustine Cemetery, the City also offers a columbarium option for those wanting above-ground interment. The columbarium allows for 60 niche units, with each unit holding up to two urns. Each unit comes with a bronze door plaque, which is included in the purchase of a niche and which may be customized with the names and dates of loved ones.
Mounting a memorial plaque is another option for remembrance, with a memorial wall available on each end of the columbarium. A memorial plaque may be purchased separately through the City and may be customized with the names and dates of loved ones.
Please view the Cemetery Bylaw which provides detailed information about columbarium interment and cemetery fees and services.
Maps, plans and cemetery records are available at City Hall during regular business hours.
Mobility Van Services
** In an effort to provide transportation services to our community members without their own transportation, the City of Humboldt has made the Mobility Van Services available to those in need. If you require assistance, please download an application below and submit it to City Hall. **
The City of Humboldt’s mobility van is a specialized service that provides transportation options for disabled residents with mobility impairments. This means any person who is unable to comfortably use conventional transportation.
An application form is required to determine eligibility and must be completed by a Health Care Provider.
The mobility van is fully accessible and has a ramp to enable wheelchair and scooter access and operates much like a taxi service, with door-to-door service provided on an appointment basis. The service operates five days a week Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, due to the high demand for this service, individuals who wish to use the mobility van must apply for and register as clients.
Every effort will be made by the driver to arrive at the scheduled pickup time, but passengers should expect the van to be at the point of pickup 15 minutes either way of the appointed time. Passengers should be ready and waiting for the van as the driver cannot wait more than five minutes.
It is requested that passengers keep their steps, ramps or lifts at their home free of snow and ice. Drivers may refuse to remove a passenger from a dwelling if, in the driver’s opinion, it is dangerous to do so.
Please note that essential appointments related to work or medical matters are given priority. Transportation requests that are flexible will be scheduled around essential travel.
Effective June 1, 2018, the service fees are as follows:
Within City Limits
• $4.50 per passenger for a one-way trip
• $9.00 per passenger for a two-way trip
Outside City Limits
• $22.00 per passenger flat fee
• $0.80 per kilometre (This cost may be shared by a group or by sponsors of a group.)
If the mobility van operator is requested to wait for a client at an appointment or function, a standby charge of $22.00 per hour will be applied.
Please Note: Clients are required to pay the operator when boarding the mobility van.
Questions regarding the mobility van’s service and application process may be directed to the City Clerk’s Office.
