Elected as Councillor in 2024
Karen was born and raised in Humboldt and takes great pride in being a part of her thriving, vibrant, and growing hometown community. She convocated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1984. Karen’s 38+ years as a Registered Nurse began at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in 1984, and she transitioned into Public Health in 1985 in Humboldt. Throughout her career, Karen held several roles in public health, including Public Health Nurse, Rural Public Health Nursing Supervisor, Public Health Nurse Clinician, Team Lead, and Clinical Lead.
Since retiring in 2022, Karen has remained active as a Board Member and volunteer at the Humboldt and District Museum and Gallery.
Retirement has given Karen the time and energy to dedicate herself fully to her role as City Councillor. She believes that community input is essential in helping Council develop fair and equitable policies. Karen is committed to being a proactive decision-maker, driven by community involvement and strong leadership. She values transparency and accountability as fundamental principles in her work.
