Rob Muench

Councillor

In Office:
Elected as Councillor in 2020
2016 - 2020 as Mayor
2006 - 2016 as Councillor

Rob was born in Humboldt and has lived here for over 50 years with brief stops in Saskatoon and Muenster. He and his wife Donna have raised their three children in Humboldt; daughter Hayley (married to husband Chad; they have 2 daughters, Stella and Sienna), and sons Josh and Zach. They are proud to call Humboldt their hometown.

Rob is currently working as a Marketing and Communications Specialist at Schulte Industries in Englefeld. His wife, Donna, is the Executive Director of St. Mary's Villa Foundation (the fundraising arm of the care facility) and is bookkeeper at Cottage Boutique.

Rob’s hobbies include photography, videography, and fine art. Rob took his art out into the community in a ‘big way’ by doing two of the murals in the downtown area.

Over the past thirty plus years, he has volunteered for many organizations in our community. These include President of the Humboldt and District Agricultural Society, Director for the Humboldt Broncos, President and Treasurer of JCI Humboldt (Jaycees), lifetime Senator JCI (Junior Chamber International) , Chair Humboldt Tourism and Special Events Committee, Director of Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce, Board of Directors of Humboldt Co-op, founding member of the Humboldt Murals Committee, founding member of the Water Ridge Park Committee, Royal Bank Cup Committee, Director and Coach for the Humboldt and District Soccer Association, Humboldt Strong Memorial Foundation board member, and member and Director of Arts Humboldt. Rob is currently chair of the Humboldt Broncos Permanent Memorial Committee and represents Humboldt on the Humboldt Wakaw Regional Pipeline Committee.

Rob was a councillor for the City of Humboldt from 2006 until 2016, when he was elected Mayor. He served one term as Mayor until 2020 when he was elected as Councillor. During his term as Mayor, he led the community through some of the most difficult times our community has experienced. He was a pillar of strength during and after the Humboldt Bronco Bus Tragedy in 2018 and continued to lead by example since the onset of the COVID-19 world-wide pandemic.

“I had one goal in mind when I first ran for Council - to make Humboldt a better place for us all. This fundamental belief has guided my decisions and resulted in improvements in the areas of infrastructure, recreation, cultural amenities, business development and strong fiscal management”.
