5th Anniversary Tribute Service
in Honor of the 2017-18 Humboldt Broncos
Humboldt, SK – Thursday, April 6th, 2023, marks the 5th anniversary of the 2017-18 Humboldt Broncos tragedy. The City of Humboldt, in collaboration with representatives of the 2017-18 Humboldt Broncos Families, are preparing a hybrid tribute of videos and on-line content to honor the 2017-18 Humboldt Broncos and all those impacted.
The Elgar Petersen Arena will be open to the public to come and go as they wish to pay their respects and reflect from 4:45 pm to 5:30 pm. During this time, a compilation of videos will be played on the Jumbotron for those who choose to attend. Simultaneously, some videos from the playlist will be published on the City’s Facebook Page at: www.facebook.com/CityofHumboldt/ and later published on the “2017-18 Humboldt Broncos Tribute Page” on the City of Humboldt’s web site at www.humboldt.ca/tribute. At around 4:50 pm, the approximate time that the tragedy occurred, the bells at St. Augustine Church will be tolled 29 times.
Mayor Behiel has proclaimed Thursday, April 6th, 2023, as “2017-18 Humboldt Broncos Day” in the City of Humboldt and encourages all citizens to observe a moment of silence at approximately 4:50 pm, no matter where they may be.
