NOTICE OF PROPOSED LOCAL IMPROVEMENT TO BE PUBLISHED PURSUANT TO CLAUSE 15(1)(a) OF THE LOCAL IMPROVEMENT ACT, 1993
Notice is given that:
1. The Council of the City of Humboldt proposes to pass a bylaw to undertake the following as local improvements:
Proposed Local Improvement:
Asphalt Pavement at Landmark Place from 7th Avenue to 3rd Street.
And proposes to specially assess a part of the cost against the lands benefited by this local improvement.
2. The estimated cost and rate of special assessment chargeable for the proposed local improvement is:
Project No. 01/2021 Landmark Place:
Estimated Cost: $114,700.00
Estimated Municipality’s Share of Cost:
Estimated Owner’s Share of Cost: $114,700.00
Estimated Rate and Basis of Special Assessment –
The project cost is divided by percent benefiting per household. $7,646.67 per household with primary access to Landmark Place $3,823.34 per household with secondary access to Landmark Place.
The special assessment levied for the proposed local improvement may be based on the actual cost. The special assessment is to be payable in either a lump sum prepayment or seven consecutive annual installments.
3. Owners of land to be specially assessed may petition against the proposed local improvement. The petition must be submitted to the City Clerk of the municipality not later than 4:00 p.m. on the 19th day of April 2021. To be successful the petition must be signed by a majority in number of owners of lands to be specially assessed for the proposed local improvement, representing at least one-half of the assessed value in the most recent assessment roll of these lands. Advice on preparing the petition to ensure its validity is available from the City Clerk.
4. Due to Public Health Orders, Council will be holding a virtual Public Meeting on-line on Monday, April 26, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. Those wishing to submit their comments on this proposal or are interested in appearing before Council virtually by way of video conference, please submit your request by email to cityclerk@humboldt.ca prior to noon on Monday, April 19, 2021.
