Aqua Fitness

One of the most popular activities offered at HAC, aqua fitness classes focus on improving one's physical health, strength and wellness.  New this year is Aqua Tabata - a high-intensity water workout that burns calories while helping individuals get into shape fast!

Humboldt Hammerheads Swim Team

From May to July each year, the HAC is home to the Humboldt Hammerheads Swim Team, a Swim Saskatchewan member organization.  Current contact information for the swim team can be found on Swim Saskatchewan's website.

Parties & Rentals

Planning a party?  Look no further as the HAC offers pool party rentals at affordable prices.  Groups are welcome to bring cake, special food or activity items into the attached multi-purpose room.  Additional rental information is included in the following table:

Red Cross Swimming Lessons

The Red Cross swim program teaches swimmers how to stay safe in, on and around the water while enjoying aquatic activities. Themes are integrated throughout the program with age-appropriate topics, games and learning activities. The Red Cross swim program is built around an individualized approach, encouraging each swimmer to improve and strive for his or her personal best.

Standard First Aid / CPR "C" / AED

This 16-20 hour program provides certification in CPR "C"/AED/Standard First Aid and covers the following: the EMS system, Check/Call/Care, Airway Emergencies, Breathing and Circulation Emergencies, First Aid for Respiratory and Cardiac Emergencies, Head and Spine Injuries, Wound Care, Sudden Medical Emergencies and Environmental Emergencies.

Date:  September 30 & October 1, 2017

Time:  9:00 AM - 5:00 PM each day

Cost:  $156 + $26 Materials (+ applicable tax)

 

Standard First Aid / CPR "C" / AED Recertification

Date:  October 1, 2017

Time:  9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Cost:  $134 (bring your own manuals)

 

Red Cross Assistant Lifeguard (ALG)

Pre-requisites: Must be at least 12 years old and have completed Swim Kids 10.

Start your training to become a certified lifeguard with the ALG course! This 25-hour course teaches injury prevention, teamwork, basic rescues and lifeguard skills. Candidates are continuously evaluated throughout the course based on standard evaluation criteria as well as a final, scenario-based practical knowledge evaluation. Upon completion of the course, candidates are required to complete a 2-hour observation assignment. Certification is valid for 2 years.

Date:  September 14-17, 2017

Time:  Thursday/Friday 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM and Saturday/Sunday 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Cost:  $135 + $35 Materials (+ applicable tax)

 

Red Cross Lifeguard (LG)

Pre-requisites: Must be at least 15 years old, have current Standard First Aid/CPR "C"/AED and completed the Assistant Lifeguard or Bronze Cross + Red Cross Prep Course.

This 40-hour course provides lifeguard certification for individuals working at pools. The course prepares deck-ready lifeguards to prevent and respond to lifeguard emergencies, create a safe environment, work in teams and handle public relations in a professional manner. The candidates are continuously evaluated throughout the course based on standard evaluation criteria and must complete a final skills and knowledge assessment. Certification is valid for 2 years.

Date:  November 17-19 and November 24-26

Time:  9:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Cost:  $210 + $60 Materials (+ applicable tax)

 

Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI)

Pre-requisites: Must be 15 years or older, ability to perform Red Cross Swim Kids 10 strokes and skills and must hold ONE of the following: Red Cross Assistant Lifeguard, Standard First Aid/CPR/AED, Bronze Cross.

Learn how to teach swimming programs! The WSI course prepares candidates to instruct the Red Cross swim program by learning how to introduce and develop fitness activities, skills, water safety and swimming strokes in the various levels.

The course consists of: Skills Evaluation (3-6 hours), Online (14-20 hours), Teaching Experience (min. 8 hours), Classroom Session (9 hours), Pool Session (12 hours)

After successful completion of this course, candidates are certified for 1 year as a WSI, which allows them to teach Red Cross swim programs without direct supervision. Within this year, candidates may complete 3 online professional development modules and receive an extra 1 year certification extension at no additional cost.

Junior Lifeguard Program

Learn how to be a leader and team member! Junior Lifeguards gain valuable hands-on pool experience including lifeguarding, assisting with swimming lessons and aquatic fitness classes, pool maintenance as well as positive public relations. Junior Lifeguards partner with an experienced lifeguard to learn what it takes to work in an aquatic environment.
