Making the most out of Humboldt's waste and recycling programs is just one of the ways we can all keep our community clean.

**NEW Residential Garbage and Recycling Program**

In June, the City of Humboldt is moving to a cart-based waste and recycling collection, transportation and disposal program for residents.

This change supports Our Humboldt's Green and Sustainable values as well as the Government of Saskatchewan's shift to promote environmental stewardship and increased personal waste management responsibility.

All residential properties of three units or less (e.g. single-family homes, townhouses, duplexes, triplexes, small condominiums, etc.) will receive one garbage and one recycling cart for residential, curbside collection.  Apartments and condominiums will have collection services from larger, stationary bins.

For condominiums, apartments and larger residential buildings with four or more units, property owners or associations will need to make arrangements directly with REACT Waste Management for garbage and recycling services.  In consultation with these property owners or associations, REACT and the City will determine the best option for service delivery and bill these properties directly for service costs.

Should you have a specific concern about collection services on your property, please contact the City at (306) 682-2525 with your name, civic address and specific concern.  We will work with you and REACT to determine the best solution to provide garbage and recycling service to your property.

The Waste and Recycling Collection Bylaw, which governs the provision of these services in the community, is available on the Bylaws page, under Community Interest & Safety.

Program Dates and Updates (as at May 1, 2017):

  • The garbage and recycling carts have arrived. They will be recorded for tracking and billing purposes before they are delivered.
  • Residential garbage and recycling carts will be delivered May 15-31 to residential households in Humboldt.  Delivery will start in the southern sections of the city. An information sheet will be delivered with each cart.
  • Collection will be bi-weekly - garbage one week, recycling the next. The last days to use garbage bag tags are June 1, 2.
  • GARBAGE collection with the new carts starts June 8, 9.
  • RECYCLING collection with the new carts starts June 15, 16.
  • Your collection day does not change - THURSDAYS (South of 8th Ave.) and FRIDAYS (North of 8th Ave.).
  • Business collection services are not affected.

Did you know ... residential cart-based services have been successfully implemented in 70% of Saskatchewan cities?
